Welcome to our website!
The NEW ROCHELLE BAR ASSOCIATION, founded in 1921, is a local organization comprised of lawyers, judges, legislators, and affiliated businesses which service the legal community, such as banks, title insurance companies, printers and others. We welcome members from throughout Westchester County and the New York City metropolitan area. Membership costs $100.00 a year, and includes a free 2 credit CLE course each month, with food and refreshments.
Our bar has a statewide presence, recognized for our award-winning pro bono programs as well as our free monthly CLE programs.
Our plans for the 2018-2019 Bar year, developed by the Board of Directors, a team of dedicated lawyers , include monthly Continuing Legal Education programs each month, presented at New Rochelle City Hall; special events, including Judges’ Night in October, where you have the opportunity to meet judges from throughout Westchester County in a relaxed, informal setting; our Annual Holiday Party at the John Jay Mansion, the home of America’s first Chief Justice; the Surrogates’ Dinner in January, and our premier event, The Court of Appeals Dinner in April, where we honor our Chief Judge and the Judges of the Court of Appeals.
We offer our members the opportunity to participate in various pro bono projects, including our pro bono projects:
LAW CLUB - Our collaboration with the Boys & Girls Club of New Rochelle
LAWYER IN THE CLASSROOM - Our collaboration with the New Rochelle Board of Education, where volunteer attorneys teach fifth graders the roles and duties of each of the three branches of government and their rights under the constitution.
LAW AT THE LIBRARY – In collaboration with the NR Public Library and the NRPL Foundation, we present public panel discussions in the library theater four times a year.
SMALL CLAIMS COURT – our members serve as Arbitrators, processing hundreds of cases each year. If it were not for volunteer arbitrators, the Small Claims Court would have a backlog of thousands of cases.
I invite all of you to volunteer your time to any of these projects.
We also offer the opportunity to interact with on with our business partners in the community who are pleased to offer personalized service to our members, including the banks, title insurance companies and other corporate sponsors who help keep our CLE free.
As we head toward our 100th Anniversary, The New Rochelle Bar is more relevant than ever. We look forward to seeing you soon!
